My Week of Reading #3

My Week of Reading #3

Hello lovelies!  This week has been an odd week of reading, I’ve started a couple of books and haven’t been able to get into them, so I’ve put them back down for now until I’m in more of a mood for them.  That being said, I managed to read 5 books which is pretty good for me in a week.  I also went to the book launch for Unearthed on Monday at Dymocks in Melbourne, which was so much fun!  On Tuesday I saw Murder on the Orient Express, which I quite enjoyed.  I had no expectations going in, which probably helped!  I’m also cursing teenage me for unhauling a whole bunch of Agatha Christie books that I’d been given […]

My Week of Reading #2

My Week of Reading #2

Hello!  This week’s reading has been a bit of a mixed bag – not as many pages read as I’d hoped, but I powered through quite a long audiobook.  Also, I found that I was loving the audiobook so much that it was all I wanted to read, particularly when the other two books I read weren’t the most enjoyable reads.  I also finished my Melina Marchetta audiobook rereads, and I’m so bummed to be done!  I need more Melina Marchetta books in my life, and the next one can’t come soon enough.  So, let’s get into what I read this week, shall we?! Dates Read: 19 – 25 November 2017 Books Read: 3 books Amount Read: 801 pages (physical […]

My Week of Reading #1

My Week of Reading #1

Hi guys!  Over the last couple of months, I’ve been a huge fan of Booktube.  For those of you who may not know what Booktube is, it’s basically the name for vloggers who create content on Youtube based on books. I really enjoy watching Booktubers recap their week of reading, and thought I’d start doing the same here. I’ve always been pretty poor at posting traditional reviews, I procrastinate and procrastinate, and then I completely forget all about it.  I also never seem to have enough to say, or I have trouble getting my thoughts out in a detailed way.  Instead, I thought why not post mini reviews of the books I’ve read each week?  So, here goes! This past […]

#TheReadingQuest Sign-Up Post & TBR

#TheReadingQuest Sign-Up Post & TBR

Hi there!  I’m not sure if you know, but Aentee from Read at Midnight does THE MOST epic readathons.  I was pretty bummed to miss out on the Harry Potter themed one earlier this year, and when I saw #TheReadingQuest, I just knew I HAD to sign up. #TheReadingQuest runs from 13 August to 10 September, and this sign-up post sets out all of the rules.  Basically you choose a path, either Knight, Mage, Bard or Rogue, and read books for the challenges on that path before choosing a new path to proceed on.  The boxes in the middle are side quests, and can be read at any time.  As the quest goes on, you earn points for meeting various […]

If We Were Having Coffee… [1]

If We Were Having Coffee… [1]

Jamie from The Perpetual Page-Turner has been doing a series called “If We Were Having Coffee”  for some time now, as have many other bloggers, to talk about life behind the blog and books.  I thought I’d give it a shot! If we were having coffee… I certainly wouldn’t be drinking coffee!  I used to love it when I was little and my nonna would give it to me ALL THE TIME, but I can’t stand it now.  I reckon I had an overload when I was younger or something!  I’m such a strange Italian (I also don’t like olives, but that’s another story).  Give me an almond milk hot chocolate or an English Breakfast tea, and I’ll be your girl […]

Aussie YA Blog Hop!

Aussie YA Blog Hop!

This week, Aussie bloggers are sharing the love for #LoveOzYA and their favourite Aussie YA reads with this blog hop hosted by Jeann of Happy Indulgence and the rest of the Aussie YA Bloggers and Readers Group mods.  I love this community of Aussie bloggers that we have but I haven’t really been a part of it for a while now.  I thought this blog hop would be a good way to get back into blogging, by sharing the books I love most and the blogs I stalk read religiously.  So here we go! 1. What you love about Aussie YA I adore how relatable it is!  It’s set in places I’ve been to or know about, and the characters remind me […]

Review: The First Third by Will Kostakis

Review: The First Third by Will Kostakis

**This review contains spoilers and is also quite personal – if that doesn’t interest you, look away now!** The First Third is a heartfelt novel about the importance of family and being true to yourself. Other than Looking for Alibrandi, I can’t remember reading a book that spoke to my soul the way The First Third did, so much so that I sobbed when I finished reading it and didn’t stop for a good 5 minutes. All I can say is that I’m glad I was in bed because I reckon I would’ve scared my parents had they seen my reaction! The First Third follows Bill, a Greek-Australian high-schooler doing his HSC and living with this family in Sydney.  His Yiayia* becomes sick, […]

Monthly Recap | January 2016

Monthly Recap | January 2016

Life: I can’t believe that it’s already February!  Where does the time go?  Already a month down in 2016, it’s time to take a look at what I did in January. Not a particularly jam-packed month for me, I spent most of January working my arse off.  When most of the country was taking leave, I worked all the way through the Christmas/New Year period, only having the public holidays off.  I rang in the New Year at a barbeque at a friend’s house, which was fun.  Australia Day (January 26) was spent down on the Mornington Peninsula at a winery and dairy, which were amazing. I discovered Classpass, which is my newest addiction.  Classpass has long been available in […]

2015 End of Year Book Survey!

Well, 2015 is over and it’s time to take a look at my year in reading.  What better way to do that than with the End of Year Book Survey, hosted by Jamie of The Perpetual Page-Turner and in its 6th year!  Here goes… Number Of Books You Read: 83 🙂 I totally kicked butt at my Goodreads challenge of 50 books!  You can see them all here. Number of Re-Reads: 24 rereads this year, which is waaaay more than last year!  I made a conscious effort to reread this year, and it paid off 🙂 Genre You Read The Most From: Contemporary, both YA and Adult – although the last couple of months has been all about the fantasy, […]
