2016: The Year Ahead in Youth Literature

2016: The Year Ahead in Youth Literature

2015 is almost over, can you believe it!?  Only 2.5 weeks to go, how crazy is that!  I honestly don’t know where this year has gone, but the last couple of months has been filled with bookish events for me.  I went to an amazing event on 1 December 2015, 2016: The Year Ahead in Youth Literature hosted by the Centre for Youth Literature.  Representatives from a number of publishing houses attended, filling us in on all the wonderful books they have for us next year, and there are so many I’m looking forward to reading! When I arrived, I was given a book as a gift, Six of Crows (The Dregs #1) by Leigh Bardugo, but I already owned […]

Illuminae ~ My first ever book launch!

Illuminae ~ My first ever book launch!

As I’m sure most of you know, Illuminae has finally been released out into the wild for all of us book nerds to gobble up and read.  Last Friday, I had the opportunity to go to the Melbourne book launch of Illuminae and it was fantastic! One of the perks of moving back to Melbourne was the ability to go to bookish events.  A lot of these events are held during the week, and it just wasn’t possible for me to attend while I lived in Bendigo.  This book launch is the perfect example of one such event, and I was so excited to be able to go. The event was held at my favourite book shop, Dymocks on Collins […]

It simply wouldn’t be a Harry Potter Book Night without me sharing my absolute favourite quotes!  Without further ado, here they are 🙂 (WARNING: These may be spoilery if you haven’t read Harry Potter) Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone “It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends.” Albus Dumbledore “You haven’t got a letter on yours,” George observed. “I suppose she thinks you don’t forget your name. But we’re not stupid-we know we’re called Gred and Forge.” George Weasley “Nitwit! Blubber! Oddment! Tweak!” Albus Dumbledore “Hogwarts, Hogwarts, Hoggy Warty Hogwarts, Teach us something please, Whether we be old and bald, Or young with scabby […]

The DUFF Movie Trailer

For those of you who may not know, The DUFF: Designated Ugly Fat Friend by Kody Keplinger has been made into a film, to be released on 20 February 2015 in the US.  No word yet on the Aussie release date, which isn’t always the same.  The official trailer was released this week, and you can watch it here: Now, I haven’t read the book so I don’t know how accurate this is in that context, but this reminds me SO much of the teen movies I used to watch when I was in high school!  It has a real She’s All That feel to it, which I adored back in the day {and still do}.  I’m thinking I’m gonna […]
