If We Were Having Coffee… [1]

Jamie from The Perpetual Page-Turner has been doing a series called “If We Were Having Coffee”  for some time now, as have many other bloggers, to talk about life behind the blog and books.  I thought I’d give it a shot!

If we were having coffee… I certainly wouldn’t be drinking coffee!  I used to love it when I was little and my nonna would give it to me ALL THE TIME, but I can’t stand it now.  I reckon I had an overload when I was younger or something!  I’m such a strange Italian (I also don’t like olives, but that’s another story).  Give me an almond milk hot chocolate or an English Breakfast tea, and I’ll be your girl for life 🙂

If we were having coffee… I’d tell you all about the amazing concert I went to last Sunday night.  I saw Hanson at the Forum and it was glorious!  It took me back to my teeny bopper days, when I was mad for boy bands and Mmmbop 😀 To be fair, I’m still mad for Hanson and have all their albums, and I knew more than just the one song.  So much fun!

If we were having coffee… I’d vent about how life hasn’t been too much fun lately.  I’ve been studying non-stop for the last six months to hopefully become an accredited specialist in family law and I’m so over it right now.  I’ve completed one assessment and I just have the exam and a mock client interview to go.  In five and a bit weeks I’ll be done, but it’s pretty hard to be motivated right now.

If we were having coffee… I’d tell you that I’m so worried I’m going to fail.  I would be in good company if that did happen but I don’t think that would make me feel any better.  The amount of work I’ve put into this is mind boggling and I can’t imagine having to go through it all again in 2 years time when the course is offered again.

If we were having coffee… I’d tell you how excited I am about my upcoming trip!  On 23 August, I’m off to the UK and Ireland for a month, woohoo!  I’m doing a Topdeck tour of Great Britain and Ireland for two weeks, and spending the rest of my time in London and the surrounds.  It’s so handy having a brother who lives overseas!

If we were having coffee… I’d tell you how hard it’s been to get motivated to blog.  Studying has completely sapped all of my time and energy, but I’m determined to get back into it.  I think I’m going to shake things up a bit, I’m not going to review books in the same format I used to – I need to find another way that’s not such a chore.  I may also start blogging about other stuff, not just books – who knows?!  The main thing is I’m not going to pressure myself to post every day of the week.  I’ve never been able to stick to that schedule, and there’s no point in putting that pressure on myself.  We’ll see what happens!

If we were having coffee… I’d tell you I haven’t been reading much lately.  Most of the time I can’t find the energy to read when it’s all I’ve been doing all day for work and study.  I’d ask you if you’d read any good books lately, can you recommend anything?

If we were having coffee… I’d tell you that I also having been watching much TV lately.  I find I can’t watch any shows I haven’t already seen, because all I want to do is binge watch and I don’t have time for that right now.  So I might watch the occasional episode of an old favourite, but not too much.  Damn you study!

Thanks for the chat, and for letting me vent!  What about you, what would you tell me if we were having coffee?  Anything new or interesting happening in your life?  Or do you just need to vent?  Feel free to comment below!

  1. Welcome back Bernadette! It’s been ages since I’ve seen you! I don’t drink coffee either and love an English Breakfast tea as well, it’s the only one I actually drink. You’re already so accomplished and it sounds as though the stress is really starting to overwhelm you. Only five weeks to go and like Nicole said, you’ve totally got this. Remember to take the time to take care of yourself and destress, long baths, treating yourself and once it’s done you’ve got that awesome holiday waiting for you <3<3

Thanks Kelly! It’s certainly been a while! Thank you for your super kind words, destressing is an ongoing battle for me and has been for the last six months. I just have to keep in mind that I’ve put in the hard yards, there’s only five weeks left of this and whatever will be will be 😬
